Some improvements on own label but a way to go on quality

Product 6

Schuh’s own-label women’s product has improved a touch this season, and with it so have its fashion looks, though there are still some quality issues. There are fringed studded ankle boots, fuchsia and black flat brogues and purple over-the-knee chunky heeled boots. Biker and cowboy boots are missing though. Double-tongued Converse, tartan Dr Martens and Reebok hi-tops help fill some gaps.

Experience 7

This is a large-scale store which is easy to shop thanks to its clearly defined fashion, casual and formal zones. There are Sale racks at the entrance with a few random clearance items but these don’t detract from what is a generally well-designed interior. Staff greet everyone entering the store and there are plenty of them on hand to help with customer enquiries, and they quite often direct shoppers to Schuh’s online operation if a size is not in stock.

Value 6

Again branded prices are in line with Schuh’s competitors, with men’s Firetrap boots matching the £99.99 mark at Soletrader. Purple ankle Uggs undercut some rivals by up to £10 though at £149.99. Some prices on own label are a little steep when measured in terms of quality, such as heeled biker boots at £79.99. However, there are some great value styles too, such as over-the-knee boots which match Topshop at £99.99 and a purple suede two-buckle shoe boot which is just £64.99.
