A full range of product categories makes this one of House of Fraser’s best concessions
A tropical cocktail bar is the first image that springs to mind when wandering through this season’s Ted Baker offer. A riot of colour, print and texture makes for the most peacocking of daywear. Scrunched appliqué effects on hot pink T-shirts and neon-printed painterly florals all add to the tropical parade.
The experience is very pleasant, with staff attentive and happy to fetch and carry extra sizes and styles. You can’t fail to smile at Ted’s printed messages on washing labels, such as ‘Ted says “You look gorgeous”’.
Ted Baker’s pricing, although a little on the high side, is justifiable because of extra design content. So a skinny striped jersey dress with puffed shoulders is a suitable £59 while a pink top at £55 is just about justifiable due to the appliqué collar. An exaggerated hourglass-shaped denim dress with ruffled bib at £99 is competitive, as is a tropical-print skirt with giant pleats for £69. A butterfly-print dress is £149, while a trench coat at £199 is worth it just for the stunning printed lining.
