What's selling now: lingerie and men's accessories

Find out what’s selling now in the world of lingerie and men’s accessories.

Simone perele spring 18

Simone Perele

Katie Glynn, director at The Lingerie Boutique in Reigate, Surrey

Empreinte is an extremely popular brand with bigger-busted ladies, who buy a lot of the bras (£69-£90). Another bestselling label is Lise Charmel, particularly the bra and panty sets (£63-£104) and silk nightwear (£130). We have also been trading well with Simone Perele bras, in particular the 3D Spacer (from £60) and the contour bras (£74). Lately business has not been too bad for us, the time of year helps as we are always quite busy around now.

Sarah Connelly, owner of Odyssey in Edinburgh

Our topseller has been the wish collection from Simone Perele. The navy-blue bra and pant sets (£120) sold out completely in just three weeks. Another brand that has been proving popular recently has been Panache, especially the Quinn bra and Brazilian brief set (£75) which is very elegant in black and is a staple in every girl’s wardrobe. Stella McCartney has also been trading well with our customers, especially the lace contour plunge bra (£45) and matching bikini (£25) which is very similar to a T-shirt bra but with the elegance of the Stella McCartney brand. Business has been really good for us lately, especially as we have just finished an “amnesty” period where women could donate their old bras to charity and receive discounts on new items by appointment – we were fully booked for the entire month. Over the course of the month, 160 bras were donated to charity which was really amazing.

Empreinte Cassiopée

Teresa Gibson, co-owner of Bustles Boutique in Southend-on-sea, Essex

We have two customer bases that visit the store. For larger cup sizes, Panache and Empreinte are really trading well. The Panache Chi Chi (£37), Clara (£34), Dora (£31) and Carrie (£43) have been selling well because of their sculptured styles. Our customers really love the full cups of the Erin (£67), Melody (£80.50) and Cassiopée (£83) from Empreinte. For women with smaller cup sizes, the Passionata brand has proved popular, especially the Brooklyn padded plunge bra (£40). We have really been bucking the trend here and trading really well. We ensure that all our staff have fitting training and put great emphasis on customer service, which makes us really stand out and encourages customers to revisit.

Fantasie Jacqueline

Carrie Francis, manager at Harts of Monmouth

Our bestselling product in the store is definitely the PrimaDonna Deauville bra (£78). Customers also really like the side-support panelling available from the Fantasie range. The Jacqueline lace bra (£42) is the most popular bra from the brand. Empreinte has also proven popular recently and in particular the Cassiopée range (£88.50) which has performed well. Our clients love that this brand offers a different shape and 3D technology. The store has been doing really well. We had an incredible year last year and this year has been on par with last year’s performance.

Mens accessories grenson trainers (2)

Nicole Gallacher, sales and marketing manager at Lewis Yates in Billericay, Essex

Mason Garments have sold really well recently, particularly the chunky sneakers (£250). They are more of a premium trainer, come in suede or leather and are made in Italy, which customers like. Trainers from Paul Smith also do well (£150), as do the sneakers from Grenson (£160). We have some Paul Smith reversible belts (£125), which people have been buying for the holiday season. Business in general hasn’t been as busy lately, but the sales from our menswear department are steady and reliable. We have put on some shopping events recently, too, which has got customers excited about visiting us.

Remy Manhan, sales advisor at Robinsons of Bawtry in Doncaster

Trainers tend to be the bestsellers from our menswear accessories range, especially those from Hugo Boss (£119). The Robert Charles belts also sell very well (£75). Those are our two best brands, but the Jeffery-West formal shoes sell well, too (from £185). Business was very bad in the first three months of the year and I’m not quite sure what happened but, luckily, we had a great April and we are nearly back on track.

Stuart Smith, manager at Zebra Menswear in Chesterfield

Socks are selling very well in store at the moment, especially the ones from Falke (£10-£15). The Barbour caps are still popular among our customers too (£20). Swim shorts from the French brand Hom (£65) are currently very popular, as it is the holiday season. To be honest, nothing is particularly selling brilliantly and March and April were quite tough months sales-wise, but the better weather in May certainly helped.

Mens socks gant

John Lassetter, director at Bone Clothing in Brighton

The scarfs from Tootal Vintage (£50) have been selling well – they are colourful and are made of silk and just give an outfit a little lift. The accessories from Eden Park do very well in genera. Its washbags (£45) are quite popular at the moment and make a nice gift idea for Father’s Day. The socks (£12) and umbrellas (£45) from Gant have sold well too. The sun has finally come out, so business in general has really improved.
