What's selling now: young fashion

Find out what’s selling now in the world of young fashion

Menswear

Gym king

Gym king

Tim Steel Owner of Chevron in Wrexham

North Face sells well across the board, but the T-shirts (£20-£30) are selling particularly well. Gym King is another brand that does very well for us generally and we’re seeing its tracksuits (£85-£90) perform strongly. Berghaus has made a comeback recently and we have had some cotton T-shirts (£25) in store that are selling well. We’ve noticed that outdoor brands are doing particularly well recently and the summer for us was absolutely fantastic.

Jay Stroud Assistant manager of Badger in Brighton

Carhartt T-shirts (£35-£45) have been selling well, as have T-shirts (£50) and sweatshirts (£90) from Maison Labiche. We’ve just had our new stock from Lyle & Scott in and once again the T-shirts (£30) and sweatshirts (£70) have flown out of the door. Trade was brilliant for us over the summer, helped by some good weather and strong collections over the season.

Scotch & Soda

Luke Dennison Director of Ashes Menswear in Bournemouth

Scotch & Soda denim (£99-£119) has been doing very well. Guide London shirts (£59-£79) have also been popular. But what we have been doing really well with is Doris & Dude bamboo-based socks (£5.99.) The socks come in a range of bright colours and are cheerful even when the weather outside isn’t – customers who buy a pair always come back for more. Trade has been up and down. We’re in a coastal town, so we tend to lose people to the seaside when the weather is good.

Sam Taylor Assistant Manager at Trapeze in Cheltenham

Jackets from Stone Island (£225-£700) have been doing particularly well over the summer because of the bright colours: customers have loved the pastel pinks and blues. T-shirts from Billionaire Boys Club (£50-£60) have been doing really well, too – they have a really nice relaxed fit. Edwin has been a strong seller, particularly the T-shirts (£30-£45) and jeans (£90). Trade was slow at the beginning of summer but has picked up and now we’re doing really well.

Odd Molly

Jane Smith Owner of Pebble in Swansea

Odd Molly raincoats (£165) have been selling brilliantly, as has the knitwear, particularly the cardigans (£132). Lightweight jumpers from Great Plains (£65-£75) have been popular, but it is a waxed, dark jumper (£75) that has been a particularly strong seller. Scotch & Soda’s lightweight jumpers (£89) have also been selling well. Trade has slumped a bit recently with the weather – some sunnier weather over the end of the summer would have been nice. However, on the whole summer trading has been good for us.

Lauren Draper Customer assistant, Wild Heart in Bridgnorth, Shropshire

Dresses from Stella Morgan (£32) are a big hit. Toxik jeans (£34.99) are a big seller among younger customers, as there are so many different colours and styles. The summer season was slow for us because of the very varied weather but hopefully the autumn will be more successful.

Michael Pugh Owner of Aura in Ipswich

The high-summer items from Desigual have been selling well, particularly dresses (£100). Diesel accessories (£50-£150) have also been very popular.

Diane Crossdale Manager at Alive in Leek, Stoke-on-Trent

French Connection has been selling very well for us recently, especially tops (from £35) and jeans (£65-£75). A black jumpsuit from Only (£39) has also been selling very well recently: it’s a hit with customers. We’ve had a good summer season – it’s been not too bad at all once it got going. The seasons definitely start later now. We were getting a lot of lovely spring stuff in March, when it was far too cold to wear it. We’re excited about the autumn season, and there are some lovely collections from our brands.
