Zara, Unit SU40, George White Street, Cabot Circus

Autumn’s minimalist trend is right up Zara’s street, and is delivered at excellent value.

Looks 9

Minimalism was made for Zara and the retailer doesn’t disappoint. With one of the best trouser offers on the high street, Zara serves up cropped, rolled-up and slim-cut styles in camel, khaki and navy, while its tailored shorts selection also stands out. Pretty blouses are perfect partners for trousers and shorts and Zara’s outerwear and knitwear offers are spot on.

Experience 5

Channelling autumn 10’s minimalist look and accompanying palette, Zara struggles to lift its product in store. A strange technique of dangling a hanger carrying a pair of trousers onto another hanger displaying a jacket looks messy, as opposed to the ‘complete look’ Zara may have been going for.

Value 9

In a word: excellent. Basic jersey tops start from as little as £9.99 and tailored trousers are a steal at £25. Coats are competitive, sitting much lower in price than Reiss, Ted Baker and French Connection - macs are £69.99, while a belted camel coat with large collar and a grey pea coat are both £79.99. Tailored shorts look good at £22.99, as does a chocolate brown suede dress at £35.99. At young fashion sub-brand TRF, jeans are great value at £29.99. \
