Outerwear and knitwear take centre stage, with attractive prices that often undercut rivals.

Product 8

All the trends are here but they never feel too trendy, which is perfect for Zara’s core menswear customers. As always there are excellent staples such as casual blazers, basic shirts and good quality simple jumpers, while more fashion-forward patterned knits tick trend boxes alongside some top-notch outerwear such as a heritage-inspired belted wool trench coat and an eye-catching bright orange db wool coat. The colour range is spot on, with the key autumnal palette and berry tones alongside pops of colour for bolder shoppers.

Experience 7

Five mannequins mark the entrance to the menswear area, with the best product utilised to grab the eye. The store feels very spacious. It is hard to work out how Zara has organised the product, but the randomness does draw you around each rail. The denim offer looks great, arranged in a spectrum from bleached white to blues and black. Several staff were on hand to retrieve extra sizes.

Value 8

What’s great about Zara is the quality of the product in relation to the price, which makes for good value. Basic V-neck jumpers are £19.99 and excellent intarsia and Fair Isle knitwear starts at £29.99, matching the likes of Topman but winning out on quality. Outerwear is also strong, with thick pea coats starting around £99, while even the most trend-led orange db wool trench coat is a reasonable £149.99.
