Buyers hunted for grown-up glamour and investment pieces at the premium womenswear trade show at London’s Saatchi Gallery.

2nd Day

Now in its third season, autumn 12 marks the return of the Day Birger et Mikkelsen sub-brand to its original rock aesthetic, following the softer, more bohemian styles featured in the womenswear label’s spring 12 collection. Heavily embellished tops, dresses and jackets, and capes and coated denim jeans with a metallic finish are all new for this season.

Ali Ro

Bold, bright, artistic prints are the order of the day at American brand Ali Ro. The label, which has just recruited former Diane von Furstenberg head designer Erin Przekop, has monthly drops rather than working by strict seasons. The brand’s autumn 12 collection of dresses includes draping, paisley and 1960s-style prints in silks and jerseys.

Prices: £120 to £350

Contemporary brand Bastyan brings glamour to Scoop this season, following the concession-only business’s announcement earlier this month that it plans to grow via wholesale.

Heavily embellished, bejewelled dresses, a structured tuxedo jacket and a wool drape coat with a sheepskin collar are key looks in the autumn 12 collection.

Prices: £50 to £400

Created by former Hermès designer Yves Chareton, Hartford may have begun life as a menswear label, but the Parisian appeal of its womenswear collection does not disappoint.

The brand’s autumn 12 range combines everyday items such as silk shirting, chunky knits and high-waisted trousers with more evening-inspired pieces, for example a sequined blazer.

Prices: £30 to £350

US womenswear brand Narces made its UK trade show debut at Scoop this season.

The brand’s 28-piece autumn 12 collection is focused on eveningwear, with a simple colour palette of navy, red and black. Key looks include an embellished silk organza dress with a full skirt, a draped yet structured dress with an asymmetric neck and a small black feather cape.

Plein Sud

This season French womenswear label Plein Sud showed its mainline, as well as its more affordable Plein Sud Jeanius range, for the first time at Scoop. The pre-autumn mainline collection’s more directional pieces, which include a leather coat with fur arms and stretch leather trousers, are complemented by feminine twisted jersey dresses that flatter the form.
