The UK arm of Shoedazzle, the online footwear, handbag and jewellery styling service co-founded by US reality TV star Kim Kardashian, is to close.
The members-only store, which was founded in the US in 2009 and launched in the UK on September 6 last year, has announced that it is to cease trading in the UK on January 31 in order to focus on its US business.
According to an email sent out to the site’s members, membership will cease after January 31 and any remaining credits will be refunded to the member’s original method of payment.
The site worked by allowing members to subscribe for £39.95 per month which entitled them to one item each month from the range of own-brand footwear, handbags or jewellery sets.
Shoedazzle recommended product to members based on a series of questions answered during the sign-up process. Everything on the site is now being sold at 50%off in a closing down sale.
The site faced competition in the UK from membership-only site Stylist Pick which relaunched this autumn, offering members the same £39.95 per month service.
In December Stylist Pick launched a footwear collaboration with Cheryl Cole and promoted this via TV advertising.
