Spring 13 shift at Middleton Green

Contemporary womenswear sales agency Middleton Green is to push back its spring 13 selling season because of anticipated disruption in London during the Olympics.

The agency’s spring selling season traditionally starts in late July and continues until the end of August but this year it will not begin until August 13 and will continue until late September.

Vanessa Green, co-founder of Middleton Green, which sells brands including Second Female and Damsel in a Dress, said: “[A lot of our customers] don’t want to come to London. They think it’ll be a nightmare.” The agency is based in Hammersmith, west London.

Janine O’Keefe, owner of contemporary womenswear indie O’Keefe in Esher, Surrey, is one of Middleton Green’s customers and is happy about the date change. She said:

“I don’t panic about closing my books before the end of August and will continue to buy into September anyway.”

Yvette Davies, owner of Thirty Three Boutique in Lymington, Hampshire, said: “The down side for them is if other people don’t follow suit then budgets will be spent by mid-late September.”
