Stitch adds streetwear area for spring 13

Menswear exhibition Stitch will launch a streetwear section at its spring 13 edition.

The streetwear area, called Switch, will offer an “affordable platform” for 24 brands, with labels Crooks & Castles, The Hundreds and Brixton already signed up.

Managing director Brian Duffy said: “Our mixture of brands at Stitch has been increasing in streetwear and we got to the stage where we thought we should have a dedicated area.”

He added that exhibitor prices for Switch would be almost 50% lower than for the main Stitch area, although he would not disclose the pricing structure. “We’re trying to get the up-and-coming labels in as they are finding it more difficult than the mainstream brands,” said Duffy. He added that the space at Switch would be an affordable entry level for brands.

Switch will have a different look and feel to the rest of the show, with graffiti artwork and a barber shop.

Stitch has added 20 brands, up from 80 last season, to its forthcoming spring 13 show, which takes place at the Business Design Centre in Islington on July 15 and 16.

The main show will see Bench and Esprit exhibit for the first time at Stitch alongside brands including Pretty Green and Luke.
