The Berlin Shows: Margit Brandt

Japanese poetry, literature and 17th-century art are the key influences in Margit Brandt’s spring 13 collection.

The womenswear brand, which has agents in 17 different markets in the UK and beyond, showcased a number of new silhouettes at Bread & Butter this season, including a cocoon-shaped quilted coat with contrast trims, and masculine biker-style jackets that have been feminised with a drawstring waist. Key looks include bold floral Japanese prints on silk dresses and tops, mixed-material dresses where lace is combined with silk, lilac dip-dyed trousers, a feminine biker-style jacket with metallic thread and a leather jacket with a spider’s web-print overlay. Shapes remain relaxed, and silk, viscose, jersey and leather are used throughout. Wholesale prices range from £11.66 to £100.

  • The first one looks like something out of a 60s Star Trek episode...
