The Berlin Shows: Smith-Wykes

New for spring 13, menswear brand Smith-Wykes, which showed at Seek in Berlin, has created detachable shoulder overlays that can be fixed to jumpers and outerwear.

“They’ll help protect against the drizzly English weather,” says founder Rory Wykes. The brand, which is only in its second season, is looking to build its UK stockists from two at present. Wykes says the brand would sit well alongside Oliver Spencer, YMC and APC, with wholesale prices ranging from €21 (£16.66) to €148 (£117.40). The 30-piece spring 13 collection includes a paper-thin spearmint mac (pictured), double-breasted blazers and classic polos. “I’m trying to get more volume into the collection,” says Wykes. “I’m letting shoulders fall off a bit more, adding large pleats and cutting oversized patterns for jackets.”
