From leopard print to floral, paisley to camouflage, zebra print to star patterns and from tribal to tropical, prints are set to be key for spring 13. Daring brands mixed prints on items and others used subtle patterns on linings and trims.
One of the top trends seen around the Berlin shows was functionality. Many brands have opted for utility outerwear in functional waterproof and windproof fabrics. Pockets we deep, with buttons, fastenings and belts in strong, durable materials.
Simple shirting and T-shirts were given a fresh twist with brands using contrasting fabrics. Many used a different pattern on pockets or sleeves with other brands contrasting different prints front and back.
With no summer to speak of in the UK, young fashion brands have added hoods to much of their outerwear. Across spring 13 collections, trenches and parkas featured both detachable and permanent hoods, with brightly coloured macs also a popular choice for many.
Moving on from the pastel shades seen for spring 13, brands have continued to embrace colour this season, using neon tones. Highlighter pen orange, pink and green have been used across items including jersey T-shirts and jeans as well as on trims, zips and detailing.
