The questions you should ask….

questionmarkAt the moment I have been out and about looking round the North and found some amazing small niche retailers / independents who have great stock and not the usual High Street looks all the great ideas and products which make independent’s the main back bone of fashion. But , yes there is always a but when I get home and hit the laptop I can’t find an internet presence  or they have a holding page so I have now started asking why not and it all comes back to the idea that it’s scary and some huge cost or will turn into a nightmare they can’t control. At the same time we have been to see a few manufacturers who have turned into retailers by necessity of the economy and as suppliers to retailers when the retailer fell on hard times they had to buy the business to continue with their own and either saw they had to go online or they decided this was the future and now have sites they hate or are costing a fortune to run.I don’t know the answer to everything but I do know it’s how you phrase the question which gets you the answer you desire and most of the people don’t know how to phrase the question when it comes to the internet – yet they are really the same questions you would ask your shop fitter or builder. So you decide how you want your site to look but don’t worry about the landing page as most folk come from a link – the most popular button is the new in just like the new rail in your shop and yes you have to change the front page just like you change the window and yes it’s easy to do all the changes yourself and if you have one shop how difficult is it to organise stock control if you have the email alerts on your Blackberry so you remove the stock from the floor. So just asking the questions and also thinking how I do this as its just one more task you have to undertake as a retailer ….
