TK Maxx in talks to open West End store

TK Maxx is in talks to open its first store in London’s West End, on Piccadilly Circus.

According to Property Week, discount retailer TK Maxx is in detailed negotiating to take on the 20,000 sq ft unit at 225-227 Piccadilly, south of Piccadilly Circus, which has been vacant for four years. It was previously a Virgin Megastore.

The Crown Estate, which owns the head lease on the property, will have to give the go ahead for the deal.

TK Maxx has been looking for a West End location for some time, and was reportedly considering taking on the former Allders unit, which Primark took.

TK Maxx opened a store in London’s Kensington High Street last year, a more upmarket location than is usually favoured by the retailer. This would be the discount retailer’s second central London store.

  • I wasn't sure how well TK Maxx was doing in High Street Kensington. Now I think it must be going well if they want another store in central London. It's a sign of the times for definite that the discounters continue to thrive and expand. Good luck. For certain it will be like "Picadilly Circus" when this store opens.
