TK Maxx to open store at Westfield Stratford

Off price retailer TK Maxx is opening a 17, 747 sq ft store in Westfield Stratford late this year.

The new store will be located on the outdoor pedestrian area, The Street, for which Westfield has recently submitted a planning application to add a glass roof so that shoppers are not put off when the weather is poor.

The shopping centre is also to become home to a 19,375 sq ft Gymbox.

Last week Drapers revealed plans for TJX Europe - TK Maxx’s parent company - to open 40 stores in the UK and Ireland this year.

Bill Giouroukos, director of operations at Westfield, said: “The addition of TK Maxx and Gymbox will enhance the already great mix of established and new brands available to shoppers. Westfield Stratford City continues to deliver strong retail sales, high footfall which is set to increase with the opening of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and UK retail firsts.”
