Topman assistant buyer joins online menswear start-up

Topman assistant buyer Thom Scherdel has joined branded menswear start-up The Idle Man as buyer.

During his four years at Topman, Scherdel was instrumental in introducing a string of emerging brands including Hype, Criminal Damage and Niccce to the Arcadia-owned menswear retailer. Before joining Topman, Scherdel was buying assistant at Selfridges.

Topman has replaced Scherdel with Asos assistant buyer of own buy knitwear James Emmerson.

The Idle Man, which launched earlier this year with £350,000 backing from regional growth fund Foresight Nottingham Fund, was set up by Asos menswear buyer Oliver Tezcan.

The site, targeted at men aged 18 to 34, offers a range of menswear brands such as Eleven Paris, Native Youth, Religion and Hype.
