Topshop has signed for a new, larger-format store which will more than double its existing footprint at Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.
Due to open in the autumn, the 30,340 sq ft Topshop store will span two levels and be located on Bluewater’s Upper Rose Gallery.
Topshop’s current Bluewater store measures 12,000 sq ft and is in the centre’s Lower Thames Walk area.
To secure the new unit for Topshop, Bluewater had to apply for planning permission to combine two existing units and extend out over the service car park.
“Arcadia has been seeking a larger store at Bluewater for some time, and we are therefore delighted to be creating a bespoke statement store for Topshop,” said Russell Loveland, senior asset manager for property agent Lend Lease.
The larger Topshop store will be located close to the new Superdry store, which is set to open in the spring, as well as River Island, Monsoon and Fat Face.
The news about Topshop comes as Bluewater reports strong Christmas trading, with sales at the centre up 2.3% compared with last year in the five-week period beginning December 1.
