Roberto Cavalli

Autumn 10

Roberto Cavalli was in a celebratory mood, as he marked his 40 years as the king of baroque ‘n’ roll design. A medley of offbeat items were layered together - think billowing harem pants, lean frock coats, doublet jackets and vests, flowing sheer dresses, handkerchief-hem dresses and skirts, throw-on wrap coats, skinny jeans and biker jackets. Tactile and decorative fabrics were mixed with an anything-goes aesthetic that somehow worked with fox, broadtail and lynx, combined with studded velvet, sequins and sheers, cut velvet, shearling and pleated chiffon.
