Mainstream womenswear brand Tulchan is to move into retail with the launch of a standalone store in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, next month.
The 400 sq ft store will be the brand’s first and the company is already looking at other possible store locations in areas including Helmsley in North Yorkshire, Bowness in Cumbria and Bakewell in Derbyshire.
Managing director Michelle Needham said she was considering opening stores in towns where it does not have a wholesale presence.
“We recognise that our own store presence is needed to raise the profile of the brand,” she said.
Tulchan is also in the process of rolling out new branding, which will debut in the Ilkley store.
Tulchan is also increasing its wholesale stockist base, with around 50 new stockists expected to take the brand for autumn 13 taking the total number of UK wholesale stockists to 350.
“We had a great reaction to the collection at Pure and Moda due to the new direction the range is taking,” added Needham.
In September last year Tulchan told Drapers that it was targeting younger customer with the introduction of more contemporary knitwear and jersey pieces into the spring 13 collection.
