Be they in natural shades, in hunting browns – with a dash of hunting pink – or reinterpreted into the season’s favourite greys, the tweedy fabrications favoured on the European catwalks mean that the autumn 09 season will have a distinctly British flavour. But it is the structural effect of these more rigid textiles that produced a close-to-the-body and more waist-conscious aesthethic. Burberry Prorsum, Gucci and Jil Sander all used the style to modern youthful effect with Tomas Maier at Bottega Veneta and Paul Smith conjuring up more heritage styling. However they were used though, these items ushered in a touch more shape to the male silhouette.
