Sheepskin boot giant Ugg has opened its first standalone store selling men’s product only.
The 800 sq ft store on New York’s Maddison Avenue is the brand’s first dedicated solely to men’s footwear and is connected to its existing women’s and kid’s store.
“Our men’s business is growing in double digits,” said Ugg president Connie Rishwain. “Men’s is a big opportunity for the brand.”
The store’s design was inspired by aviation, and a large aeroplane wing structure covers the ceiling.
To celebrate the opening the high-end Ugg Collection sub-brand was flown in early from Italy, where it is made.
Ugg’s next store in the US will open in New York’s Meatpacking District in October.
Ugg recently told Drapers that it is still committed to its wholesale business in the UK, despite having axed several high-profile wholesales stockists, including ASOS, Cloggs and USC for autumn 12.
