VIDEO: Oxford Street kicks off Jubilee celebrations

London kicked off the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations this week, with 147 Union Jack flags lining Oxford Street marking the street’s world-famous shopping reputation and contribution to the UK economy.

British Fashion Council chairman  Harold Tillman and model Jasmine Guinness unveiled the display, which aims to celebrate the country’s fashion and craft worlds.

The flags, which can also be seen on Regent Street, Bond Street and Piccadilly, will be on display throughout May.

Oxford Street’s designers, brands and stores are visited by more than 100 million shoppers from over 200 countries, contributing over £2bn to the UK economy each year.
