Vivienne Westwood

Spring/Summer 09

The Look
After last season’s plaid assault on the senses, Westwood went for a more demure theme for spring, playing with structure with hints of an exotic undercurrent

Key pieces
The most dramatic of the looks was a pair of bunched gold foil trousers, but the tartan was toned down to a white, cornflower blue and navy colourway on slightly draped separates, and a North African-inspired double arrow print was used on slouchy tops

Colours
A noticeably more muted palette for spring, prawn, peach and putty tones, alongside midnight blue and silver

Fabrics
Silks gave trousers suits and skirts movement, gold foil was teamed with iridescent lycra
