Contemporary womenswear retailer Whistles has unveiled plans to open a new flagship concept store on London’s Dover Street in January next year.
Whistle’s chief executive Jane Shepherdson told the Business of Fashion the new store “gives us an opportunity to really showcase the collection to international buyers”.
She added that she had identified “a lot of gaps within London” and the wider UK market, and planned to open another 15 stores. This comes on the back of six store openings to date this year.
The news comes as Whistles revealed double-digit like-for-like sales growth for the nine months to the end of October 2012 in both its stores and online.
“We are now seeing the positive results of our investment in the infrastructure of the business, and have created a strong platform from which to grow the brand,” a company statement said.
This most recent full year results, to end-January 2012, saw revenues climb from £38.8m to £39.9m, while EBITA jumped 34% to £1.6m.
In 2012 the retailer has focused on expanding internationally having opened stores in Moscow, Paris and Barcelona and is considering various opportunities in the US.
