Zagger moves into streetwear

Zagger Fashion Group, which consists of five designer men’s and women’s wear stores based in Essex, is set to open two new stores this year and relaunch a third, as it looks to take advantage of new business opportunities in the economic climate.

The independent business, which has been established for more than 35 years, has five stores in Chelmsford - Zagger Basic, its casual menswear
shop; Zagger Fashion, its premium menswear offer; Zagger Menswear, its formal menswear tailoring shop; Zagger Womenswear, a designer womenswear offer, and a Hugo Boss franchise store.

Despite already operating a large portfolio in the town, the group is set to open a streetwear store called Designer Stockroom in the next two months. The store will be based in the Meadows shopping centre in Chelmsford and will stock the likes of Superdry and Diesel.

A second concept store in Chelmsford will follow later this year.

Zagger Womenswear will also relaunch this year with added categories such as furniture and antique jewellery, and will trade from a larger space.

Zagger Fashion Group owner Chris Geer said: “Opportunities present themselves for businesses to expand in this market. Independents need to remain strong and keep moving. People want to spend their money locally, and this is a time when independents can shine.”
